The ExCESS Winter 2006 Foosball Tournament

The Winter tournament will take starting Monday, March 6th 2006 and will end on Friday, March 10th 2006. It is a single elimination tournament so teams must be on the top of their game at all times! All matches will take place in the ExCESS office in TROT 1060 at scheduled times.

Registration

Registration will be done via email. A team of two must download the registration form which is found here. Once all required information has been entered, email the form to excess.support@gmail.com. Please allow up to 24 hours for a confirmation.

The cost of registration is $10 for the team. Payment should be made when you play your first match.

Tournament Rules and Regulations

Please read the rules and regulations below carefully.


A game of foosball is a race to 5 points. All matches will be best of 3 games and shall be limited to 25 minutes.

1. Start a Match

- The winner of a coin toss can choose side of table or to serve first.

- The team conceding the last goal has the next serve.

- The player serving the ball is allowed to serve towards his/her own player.

2. Restart

- If the ball is off the table or is dead in play it is re-served by the team that served last.

- The ball is dead when it is stopped and cannot be reached by any player figure.

3. Scoring

- Goals can be scored with any player figure on any rod. 5 MAN SHOOTS DO COUNT.

- A goal immediately on the drop, touching only one player, shall not count.

- If the ball enters the goal and bounces out again it counts as a goal.

- Scoring a goal while violating a rule will not count towards the team score. A warning shall be given.

4. Passing

- The ball must first touch the playfield before it can advance.

- The ball must be moving to be caught as a pass.

5. Spinning the Rods

- A > 360 degree spin is illegal. A warning shall be issued.

- If a player’s spinning rod hits the ball backwards into his own goal, it will count as a goal for the opposing team.

6. Distractions

- Jarring the rods, lifting or sliding the table is not allowed. A penalty will be awarded to the opposing team.

7. Time between Games

- At the end of each game, teams must switch sides within 60 seconds of the next game.

8. Penalties

Penalties for violating the rules are:

  • A warning. 2 warnings in one game will result in loss of the game (not of the match).
  • Technical foul: free shot from the 3- man bar. Only the goalie is allowed to defend.

Penalties will be issued at the referee’s discretion.

9. Change of Positions

- Players may play only on the two rods normally designated for their position. A switch is allowed between points or between games. Illegal switch in position will result in a warning.

10. Time out

- A time out of 60 seconds is allowed during the game. A team may exercise a maximum of 1 time out in a match.
