The Council meets on a bi-weekly basis to discuss issues related to the ECSE student body and to plan social and academic events. The President is also the ECSE student Body representative to the Department of ECSE and to the Faculty of Engineering.
The Council has several duties that include, among others:
- The planning of academic activities (Second Hand Book Sales, Academic Lectures, Career Fairs, etc)
- The planning of social activities (Halloween Blues Pub, Pizza Parties, U1 BBQ, etc.)
- The planning of the Annual ExCESS Banquet
- Maintaining student study rooms (Trottier 5th floor)
- Representing the ECSE Student Body at the Engineering Undergraduate Society (EUS), Department and Faculty levels.
- Sending out the ExCESS monthly publication (The Livewire)
- Keeping the students informed about academic and social events
- Overseeing the Engineering Equipment Fund (ECSE)
- Participating in Inter-University competitions and conferences
