President’s Message

The students in the programs of Electrical, Computer, Software Engineering and Electrical Honors Engineering form a group of dynamic, intelligent, ebullient, and diligent students whose devotion to their field of study is unparalleled. These aspiring engineers are privileged to be in a program consistently ranked among the top 10 in North America. With an Information Technology building solely dedicated to their purposes, the students, now numbering 800 in the department, have access to state of the art laboratory equipment and computer systems. This availability of cutting edge technologies, coupled with the arduous efforts of the dedicated professors, makes McGill Electrical, Computer, and Software Engineering a place where students from all across the globe are striving to be at.

“...these aspiring engineers are privileged to be in one of the top 10 engineering programs In North America...”

To complement the superior academics of the department, the members of the ExCESS Student Council support various activities to foster pride and create a social environment for students to imbibe the most out of their university experience. ExCESS is actively involved in student affairs committees at the departmental and faculty level. We coordinate special lectures given by professors and/or graduate students where the latest research conducted at McGill is presented to interested undergraduates. We also organize various events round the year which include Foosball Tournaments, Booksales, and the extravagant End of the Year Banquet.

ExCESS has achieved tremendous success since its inception way back in the 1970s. Last year, apart from sending a successful CUTC delegation of students to Toronto and being nominated as Departmental Group of the Year by the Engineering Undergraduate Society (EUS), ExCESS outdid itself by getting nominated as Campus Group of the Year at the Student Society of McGill University (SSMU) awards.

As a corporate sponsor you have the exciting opportunity to support the varied activities ExCESS offers to its students, and create an everlasting impression on the engineers of tomorrow with your generous gesture. Our sponsorship packages are flexible with a view for negotiation to best suit your organization.

In hope of establishing a rewarding relationship with you and your company, I would like to thank you for the interest you have shown in the Electrical, Computer, and Software Engineering Student Society of McGill.
